FUTURE OF CREATIVITY:

THE STATE OF PLAY REPORT

The UNESCO Recommendation concerning the Status of the Artist has long called for the protection of artists' social and economic rights and an integrated approach to legislation on the status of the artist.

The .WAV Status of the Artist forum created an opportunity to discuss challenges and priorities from various artists and creative workers from different disciplines.

This report covers a discussion between government officials, representatives from arts organisations and artists and highlights ways to create a vibrant, diverse cultural sector that supports human creativity. In addressing policy and program gaps and helping artists earn a reasonable income, Cambodia will increase its cultural capital, improve its economy, and create a better place for all.

The .WAV Status of the Artist forum was developed

as an opportunity to hear from both artists and government representatives and assess what type

of support can have the most positive impact on the working conditions of artists, particularly women.

The forum is part of a more extensive program called .WAV [Women's Amplified Voices], by TSI supported by USAID - PACT Cambodia, WE Act project.

Its goal is to support artists, with an emphasis on women. It includes a training program on music studio production and entrepreneurship skills, small grants for artists, and a campaign to promote role models and talent across this industry.
